Our Vision

Lynn’s passion is creating more walkable, livable, and sustainable communities throughout the U.S. Her primary focus has been on implementation: moving an issue from paper to practice. Building off of her decades of experience, she has recently launched Richards and Associates, a consulting practice designed to meet state and local governments where they are and to help them navigate implementation barriers, including identifying and addressing issues with their land development regulations.  

 

Lynn has served in a number of leadership roles including serving as the President and CEO at the Congress for the New Urbanism, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy and Implementation Officer at Blue Zones, LLC, and Policy Director at the U.S. EPA Office of Sustainable Communities. In all her positions, she worked as an urban design expert, addressing placemaking issues for dozens of state and local governments, helping them re-imagine their cities and towns, and developing implementation approaches to help accelerate the pace of change for all communities.

 

Her publications include the Project for Code Reform series, Rescaling the Suburbs: a 21st Century Priority, Protecting Water Resources with Higher Density Development, and the forthcoming Housing Solutions for the 21st Century.
